Performance Qualifications I graduated with a BA Hons in Performance from Northumbria University and an HND in Musical Theatre from Newcastle College
Teaching Qualifications I have a Certificate in further education teaching (7407) and a Diploma of Higher Education in Teacher Education
Other Qualifications I hold a Level 2 NCFE qualification in Equality and Diversity and a First Aid for Mental Health level 2 Award
Other Training I have recently completed an Emergency First Aid Training at Work and have also completed an Estill Voice Training level 1 and 2, Teacher Training Course AOTOS (Association of Teachers of Singing) and a Community Music Apprenticeship at The Sage Gateshead.
Employment
Work in Further and Higher Education I worked at New College Durham teaching singing and leading a staff choir. At Newcastle College I held a senior role in Equality and Diversity and was responsible for designing, delivering and assessing units in singing, songwriting and music in society, organising and guiding learner groups and peer mentoring and coaching.
Work In Participatory Arts My recent work includes a role as songwriter in residence at The Word and songwriting facilitation for Jack in the Green a work by young film makers at Custom Reels. Actor and Project Co-ordinator for The Twisting Duck Theatre Company and singing projects for Cultural Spring. My work for The Sage Gateshead as a community musician has included designing and delivering singing and songwriting workshops in schools and community settings. My work at New Writing North has involved projects as The Millin Centre, The Gala Theatre Durham and Excelsior Academy. I have led choirs in colleges, schools and community settings including a community choir in Byker with Pauline Murray of Penetration. Current choir projects include Singing for the Soul at Back on the Map (Hendon) and the co-pop choir Newcastle. I have recently been supporting the Twisting Ducks band academy in songwriting and performance.
Performance Work
I write, record and perform with The Cornshed Sisters and have recorded vocals on various commercial releases. I have performed in a variety of projects both as a musician and as an actor. For full details see Live and Recorded work and Acting.
